beauty remains

remember

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.

ANNE FRANK

DEAR ANNE,

It’s been a rough day, again. So many things happened. So many words, actions and emotions were released and shown. So many happiness as well as sadness. But of all these things, I’m so tired that I just want to sleep. I remembered you saying in your diary, “Let me get away, away from everything, away from this world.” That was when you released your anger towards your mother, to everyone, the world. That moment, I just realized, we are somehow similar. We’re both confused teenagers who just want to be heard and feeling to be shown. We were already suffocated on the voices of other saying what to do and everything you do is wrong. We were already trapped in our own world that it’s very hard to break down the walls to be free. At the end of the day, we are still teenagers who still know nothing in the world. We are still teenagers who wants to know everything in the world. We are still teenagers who want to be heard and be understood by the people around us. We are still teenagers who are very confused with life but still looks for the beauty left around and just become happy.

You had a great future ahead of you. I admire you on how you expressed yourself through writing. I admire you on how brave you were during the war. I admire you as a young lady who had a great way and sophisticated way on how to express all the anger and happiness you felt everyday. I admire you for there was never a day you were never yourself.

Thank you Anne. You were just an ordinary girl who had a future ahead of you but were shattered by the violence of the world. Nevertheless, your story was heard and that was everything. I hope you’re happy despite of all those horrible things that happened. Again, thank you because I just met someone who is really like me. I just met someone who was brave enough to get away from the world but also to face the world.

PS. your voice was heard (via diary),
i hope mine will be heard someday too.
